Data collection and usage
You may use this website without registration. Wherever you provide us with personal data (e.g. in contact forms or the infotheque), this is done on a voluntary basis. In accordance with the principle of purpose limitation, your data will only be processed for the purpose of processing your request. Beyond that, it will not be used or passed on to third parties without your express consent.
If you have given us your consent to do so, we will use and store your personal data as part of our activities for the following purposes:
Subscribe to our newsletter
If you have given your consent, we will add your name and e-mail address to our newsletter mailing list. This can be done using the form on the website, for example. We will send the planned newsletter to the addresses on this distribution list. The addresses will not be used for any other purpose and will not be passed on to third parties.

Online donations
You can donate online on the donation page. For this purpose, our partners have their own forms and tools available.
Direct debit: We provide a form on our server for setting up a SEPA direct debit or a recurring payment order. You can use this form to enter the required details; by clicking the “Send” button, it will be sent to our office by e-mail. Our bookkeeping will then deduct the specified amounts from your account. If your account does not have sufficient funds, the bank is not obliged to honor the payment. You can revoke direct debit authorizations for permanent orders at any time.
PayPal: We use links to refer to the PayPal platform, which accepts donations and transfers them to us. PayPal’s privacy policy applies to the use of this service. We receive the data of your donation from PayPal (name, date, donation amount less transaction fees, e-mail address, if provided by you: address). See below for the use of this data.
Facebook: Links take you to the Facebook platform, which accepts donations and transfers them to us. Facebook’s data protection provisions apply to the use of this service. We receive your donation data from Facebook (name, e-mail address, date, donation amount, any fundraising campaign supported). See below for the use of this data.
Betterplace: Links are provided to the donation platform betterplace.org, which accepts donations and transfers them to us. The Betterplace’s privacy policy apply to the use of this service. By activating the option “I would like to receive information from Christlicher Hilfsverein Wismar e.V.” in the Betterplace donation form, you allow your address data stored at betterplace.org to be included in our Infopost mailing list. If the checkbox next to this function is not activated, your donation will remain anonymous and no personal data will be passed on to us. In both cases, you will automatically receive a donation receipt; this will not be issued and sent by CHW, but by betterplace.org.
Donation management, accounting
Donations received are (as far as possible) allocated to the respective donors in our accounting department. This information is used to evaluate the donations received and to maintain relationships with the donors. This includes in particular the issuing of one-off or annual donation receipts. We will, of course, treat your donation information as strictly confidential.
Website tools
Share buttons
Below the pages, we provide a button bar via the AddToAny service for you to easily share the respective page in social services. Accessing these services and logging into your user account there is not connected to our website and is your own responsibility. Neither AddToAny nor we collect personal data from the use of the share buttons (see AddToAny’s privacy policy).
Cookies
This website works with session storages and also with cookies, which are used by the system to distinguish your visit from search robots (bots). These are essential cookies that merely serve to operate the website and therefore do not require your consent. There are no cookies that collect information about your visit to our website or about your cross-site behaviour (online marketing).
Visitor statistics
For statistical analysis of page views, we use the WordPress plug-in from Matomo, a tool that is particularly privacy-friendly. To protect your privacy, all IP addresses are anonymized at the time of data collection, so that they can’t be traced back to a specific person. Therefore, the information collected is part of anonymous statistics and not personal data in the sense of data protection laws. The anonymized visitor information is stored on our server in Germany (unlike with Google Analytics, for example) and will be processed only by us.
Right to information and revocation of data use
You have the right to receive information about the data stored by us, to have incorrect data corrected and to demand the deletion or blocking of your personal data free of charge at any time.
