Support for municipalities

Despite everything that Albania has achieved in the last 30 years, there is still a lot of catching up to do when it comes to equipping public institutions. We have always been happy to arrange donations in kind from Germany: from computers to materials for schools and hospitals to used fire engines, garbage trucks and police vehicles. As far as we could, we have also supported individual infrastructure projects such as school renovations or the renewal of a water pipe.

Seminars and exchange of experiences

Wismar itself went through the challenges of system transformation in the early 1990s, with massive support from the West. We are happy to share our experiences, including the professional expertise in our association’s environment. At this point we would like to thank the Albania office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, with whom we have already carried out various training courses for our Albanian employees and municipal partners.

Cooperation in Diakonia Albania (DA)

Our Albanian foundation Diakonia Albania understands itself as a social service provider, a partner for municipalities and churches. We work closely with the responsible city administrations, school and social authorities on all social projects. And with Sotiraq Mangeri, President of the City Council, the city of Pogradec is even directly represented on our Supervisory Board.
